Exhibition Stand Builder in Spain

img_vector

Spain has become one of Europe's most contested exhibition markets. Integrated Systems Europe moved to Barcelona from Amsterdam. Seafood Expo Global moved there from Brussels. Anuga Select Ibérica premieres at IFEMA Madrid in February 2027. Each arrival adds pressure to the same two venues, the same contractor pool and the same build-up windows. That pressure is the thing to plan around. A stand in Spain is rarely constrained by design. It is timing.

Serving brands across Europe

Exhibition stand design and build in Barcelona and Madrid

Some clients are Spanish firms taking their first stand at IFEMA. Others are European or international exhibitors flying into El Prat for a show at Fira Gran Via. Either way the project follows the same path:

  1. Confirm the venue, hall and organiser rules.
  2. Design around what the stand needs to achieve.
  3. Plan production and installation around the build-up window.

Our service portfolio includes:

  • Custom exhibition stands: Designed around your plot, your products and the conversations you need to hold, from a 20 sqm stand built for meetings to a large open-sided stand built for demonstrations.

  • Modular exhibition stands: Built for companies with a calendar that runs across Spanish, German and wider European shows. One system is reconfigured for each new plot and refreshed with new graphics.

  • Double-decker stands: Planned from the first concept around the hall permitted height, the organiser’s rules and the approval process for raised levels.

  • Last-minute builds: For shows where the decision came late or a supplier fell through.

  • Exhibition stand design from an in-house studio: Our team of 10 designers develops several concepts against your brand guidelines and floor plan, rather than presenting one option and defending it.

  • Dedicated project management: One project manager covers concept development, design iterations, production planning, installation scheduling and on-site build support.

  • Production through long-standing partner suppliers: Your project manager coordinates and checks their work throughout.

  • Structural specifications for multi-level stands: They cover materials, dimensions and load, and give your venue submission a solid technical reference.

  • A project run in English: Our team communicates in English from brief to dismantling.

Exhibition stand design in Spain rewards early decisions more than most markets, because the calendar is crowded and the capacity is finite. Our job is to get those decisions made while there is still time to act on them.

What to plan for when you exhibit in Spain

Most of what makes a Spanish show run smoothly is settled before design begins. These are the points worth confirming first.

Points to confirm first:

  • The February to April window at Fira Gran Via is the tightest in Europe. ISE runs 2 to 5 February 2027 and MWC Barcelona runs 1 to 4 March 2027, at the same venue, four weeks apart. Seafood Expo Global follows on 20 to 22 April. Both ISE and MWC are among the largest events on the continent, and they draw on the same local contractor capacity, the same hotel stock and the same build-up slots. If your show sits in that window, four to eight months of lead time is the floor rather than a comfortable margin.

  • Spain is a two-venue country with a third tier underneath. Fira de Barcelona operates Gran Via and Montjuïc, and IFEMA Madrid carries the national and Iberian calendar. Feria Valencia, Bilbao Exhibition Centre and FIBES Seville handle strong sector events below that. Which venue your show sits in changes the hall rules, the access routes and the contractor arrangements, so confirm it before anything is drawn.

  • Height limits and raised levels are decided by the venue, not the country. Limits vary by venue, by hall and by where your plot sits within it. Double-deckers and structures above standard height generally require structural drawings and venue approval, and approval timelines are set by the organiser. That makes a second level a first-conversation decision rather than a late addition.

  • Confirm the basics with your organiser before design starts. Exact plot dimensions and which sides are open, the height limit for your hall, floor load, and the deadlines for power, water, rigging and internet orders. Confirming these basics removes the load off your schedule.

  • Access at Gran Via is better than most exhibitors expect. Metro line L9 Sud runs direct from Barcelona El Prat Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to the Fira and Europa/Fira stations in roughly 15 to 20 minutes. That changes how you schedule your team on build-up days and how you plan arrivals for a hosted meeting programme.

  • One system can cover Spain and Germany. Exhibitors working in Barcelona or Madrid alongside German shows can run a single modular system across the year, reconfigured for each plot and refreshed with new graphics, rather than commissioning separate builds.

What you get when you work with Design Desk

A show in Spain is a significant investment, and most of the risk sits in coordination rather than design. These are the things that reduce it.

What distinguishes our service:

  • One project manager from brief to dismantling: Projects rarely fail through poor design. They fail at handovers, when the person who understood your requirements is not the person dealing with the build. Your project manager stays with the project throughout.

  • Several concepts, not one: With ten designers in the studio, you see distinct options and get iterations without extra charges. The first idea is rarely the best one.

  • Calendar pressure raised at the first call: Which show, which venue, and whether your date sits inside the Barcelona crunch are the first things we ask, because they decide what is realistically achievable.

  • Structural thinking from day one: For raised or two-level stands, structural specifications are prepared once the concept is approved, so the design that goes forward for submission is one that can actually be built.

  • Design built around meetings as well as display: At appointment-led shows, we plan the space around how many people need to sit down at once and whether a conversation can stay private.

  • On-site build support: Problems during build-up need a decision within the hour, not an email chain. Build support is provided on site during installation.

  • A European calendar under one contractor: With more than 2,500 projects across more than 30 countries, a Spanish show can be one stop in a wider programme rather than an isolated project.

    FAQs

How fast can we turnaround your project, and other common questions

Look at four things rather than the portfolio alone:

    • Whether they can show projects similar to yours and name them.
    • Whether one named project manager stays with you from brief to dismantling.
    • Whether the quotation separates the stand build from space rental, venue services and freight, so you can compare suppliers properly.

4 to 8 months before the show. That leaves room for concept design, iterations, approval for raised levels, and production. For a show inside the February to April window at Fira Gran Via, treat 4 months as the absolute minimum.

ISE in early February and MWC in early March fall four weeks apart at the same venue, and both are enormous. Everything they draw on is finite: contractor capacity, crew, hotel rooms, build-up slots. Exhibitors who commission late in that window are not choosing between designs, they are choosing between whatever is still available.

There is no single national figure. Limits are set by the venue, the hall and your position within it, and organisers add requirements of their own. Confirm the number for your specific show and hall before design starts.

Often, yes, but it needs planning. Venues generally require structural drawings and approval before a second level can be built, and the deadline for that submission sits well before build-up. We prepare structural specifications covering materials, dimensions and load to support the submission.

Approval for raised and multi-level stands goes to the venue or organiser. We prepare the design drawings and structural specifications the submission relies on, and your project manager builds the organiser’s deadlines into the project schedule.

Stand build costs are quoted per square metre:

    • Economy: EUR 350 to 500
    • Premium Economy: EUR 500 to 700
    • Business Class: EUR 700 and above

Space rental, venue services, freight and travel sit outside those figures.

Our team communicates in English, from brief through to dismantling. For most exhibitors that is the practical working language, since organiser documentation for the international shows at Fira and IFEMA is published in English.

Yes. Germany is where most of our work happens, including projects at Anuga in Cologne, ITB Berlin and InnoTrans at Messe Berlin, Interzoo in Nuremberg, and. A modular stand can move between Spanish, Italian and German shows with new graphics each time.

Custom is designed and built specifically for your brand, plot and objectives. Modular uses adaptable components that can be reconfigured for different halls and plot sizes, and it suits companies exhibiting several times a year.

Often, yes. Last-minute builds narrow the range of formats, usually towards modular solutions, but the standards stay the same. Send us your show date, plot size and hall, and we will tell you what is realistic.

    Send us:

    • the show, venue and hall
    • your plot dimensions and which sides are open
    • the height limit in your organiser’s manual
    • your budget range
    • what the stand needs to achieve

That is enough for a first concept
